Following are some sidebar buttons for the Persuasion read-along. If you put one up it would be great if you can link it back here. Thanks so much and have fun with them!
Me too, Me too. I want to join this read along. After reading The Well-Educated Mind, I've been reading up on all the classics blog out there - I didn't know there were so many so dedicated to the classics. I'll have to get a copy soon.
I so almost bought a new hardcover copy today at B&N because it had a pretty cover and then I'd have a copy dedicated to the read-along. Now I'm regretting not getting it. Hmm. Next time I have a B&N coupon, I'll see if I can order it online...
Hamlette, Awwww, oh dear..... :P (Simply as a matter of coincidence and curiosity, of course), my copy's actually a B&N, too (but about 10-12 years old) and I'm extremely fond of it. ;)
That first one's definitely lovely and evocative---and it's hardback. (Incidentally, I also really liked their summary, too. :)) But then the other one is annotated.... I guess it would depend on how good the notes were. And I know, it's dreadful when there are two good copies in a reasonable price range.... ;)
You can count me in on this one, Heidi. I have been planning to reread Persuasion for a while now, so this makes a great occasion to actually get it done.
Gosh! I just grabbed my library's copy the other day! What does the read-along really involve? Do we read a chapter a day...or what? I've never heard of anything like this before, but I really like the idea! Count me in!! :) I'll also grab the button for my blog. :)
Julia, We'd be delighted to have you! You asked how it'll work.... The plan is that everyone will be reading along at about the same pace (though, of course, if you fall behind and need to do catch-up, etc. it's perfectly okay ;)). I'll be posting here about each chapter, with general observations I might have, favorite lines from the chapter, and hopefully some possible thought/discussion questions for each one. Then everyone can interact with those or comment with any thoughts or questions they have. Did that all make sense?
And thanks so much for putting up one of the buttons! :)
Oh okay! That makes perfect sense. :) I can't wait to start reading the book. I actually have never read Persuasion, but I have listened to it on audio. Have you ever watched Persuasion? I loved it so much that I bought it! :D Well, I'll mark down January 5th on my new calender..yeek! I actually am just making it to 99 books that I have read since January first of 2014 (I've written down every book I've read all year) and Persuasion will be a fun one to add to my 2015 list!! :) God Bless!
Hello! I follow Hamlette's blogs and I saw she was doing a Persuasion read-along. I've never done a read-along before and I love Persuasion so... I'm going to do it :)
Will there be deadline dates on reading chapters? I'm sorry if that's a dumb question. I've never done a read-along before. I only know that the general goal is for everyone to read the chapters at roughly the same time!
Hannah, Oh, don't worry, you're quite all right! After Christmas, I'm hoping to post with some more details....but no, there won't be any deadlines. I'm planning for several chapters a week with flexibility as necessary. :)
I just stopped here just to say how amazing your challenge is. I also joined it and I made the first post about it today and tomorrow I will review the first three chaptes. Today I am going to finish reading the third chapter. :) http://romanceofpages.blogspot.ro/2015/01/persuasion-read-along-week-one-first.html
Would love to have your thoughts! Just please keep it respectful and civil. Also, if someone else has left a comment you’d like to reply to -- feel free!
